In late December 1997 two Guzzi riders from the USA found themselves in Switzerland,
building an automated assembly machine for a major oem located in the USA.
Deadlines were pressing and time was not a luxury. But they got up early,
stayed late and managed to sneak away from work long enough to make the trip
to MANDELLO DEL LARIO.
It was about 6 hrs through the mountains and
tunnels. Nothing was going to stop these guys.
Snow, traffic, language barriers and getting lost just made it more exciting.
When they saw the signs for MANDELLO DEL LARIO
they cheered and when they saw
the signs that read MOTO GUZZI with an arrow they screamed turn here!! Turn
here!!
Checking in with the security they were told
they had to wait for a tour guide
to take them on the tour of the museum. The museum is only open for one hour
on certain weekdays.
Luckily today was the day, and they were early.
A short wait in the little café across from the factory and then it
was time to meet the guide.
The guide was a very friendly man with little English skills. But by smiling
and
shaking hands and allot of hand gestures everyone was able to communicate.
The one-hour tour of the museum turned into
about two hours and a
few peeks into secured areas not on the normal tour.
When they made it into the museum it was like
traveling
back in time seeing all of those beautiful machines.
It was a great time and the Italians treated the new visitors like old friends.
So my new friend MOTO
GUZZI SHOP.com is proud to take you on our tour of
the MOTO GUZZI Factory Museum.
